Department of Philosophy and Theology

There is nothing at once more human and more divine than inquiry for it is through questioning that we reach beyond our limitations, seeking both knowledge and meaning in the mysteries of existence. Animated by the human pursuit of truth, beauty and goodness, and inspired by the Catholic Intellectual tradition, the Department of Philosophy and Theology at Gannon University prepares students to address life’s unpredictable challenges, questions and decisions with integrity and confidence. While all students at 名媛直播 encounter philosophy and theology through the core curriculum, students also have the opportunity to delve even further into both disciplines by pursuing a major or minor. All philosophy and theology courses challenge students to become thoughtful and responsible global citizens who face their professional and personal lives with a commitment to truth, beauty and goodness. In particular, the department seeks to inspire the following in our students:

  1. An uncompromising commitment to truth in all its expressions.
  2. An openness to critically examining our relationships with God, others and the world we inhabit.
  3. A commitment to interdisciplinarity, as truth discloses itself in many diverse disciplines.
  4. A charitable stance toward disagreement, as truth-seeking is a collaborative effort that takes place with others.
  5. An open-minded inquiry that honors the inexhaustibility of truth’s expression.
  6. A reverence for the dignity of each human being, and thus a commitment to justice and to the common good.

The Department of Philosophy and Theology Houses Three Undergraduate Programs:

  1. Philosophy (major, minor)
  2. Health Care Ethics (minor)
  3. Theology (major, minor)
