Federal Direct Student Loans

Master Promissory Note (MPN)

This is the loan contract between you and the Department of Education. This must be completed before your loans will appear as an anticipated deduction on your semester bill.

To complete your MPN:

  • Go to studentaid.gov
  • Log-in using your FSA ID username and password from the FAFSA
  • Under the “Loans and Grants” drop-down box, select “Master Promissory Note (MPN)”
  • Follow the instructions and “Submit”

Loan Entrance Counseling

This is an interactive tutorial outlining a student’s rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. This must be completed before your loans will be credited to your student account.

To complete your counseling session:

  • Go to studentaid.gov
  • Log-in using your FSA ID username and password from the FAFSA
  • Under the “Grants and Loans” drop-down box, select “Loan Entrance Counseling”
  • Follow the instructions and “Submit”
