of Gannon University is beginning a new chapter on its Pepper Pike campus with historic momentum, welcoming the largest incoming first-time, full-time class in the institution’s history as it begins its first full academic year as part of Gannon University. 

Currently, 148 incoming high school students are joining the Ursuline campus for fall 2026, surpassing the previous high of 138 students in 2005. Undergraduate admissions also increased 40 percent, signaling strong continued interest in the Ursuline experience as the campus moves forward under new institutional leadership. 

The historic enrollment comes at a pivotal moment for Ursuline. The campus remains rooted in the traditions, relationships and close-knit community that have defined the college for generations while entering a new era with the resources, opportunities and reach of Gannon University. 

“Ursuline’s story is continuing, and this fall represents an exciting new chapter for the campus and our students,” said Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., president of Gannon University. “Students are choosing Ursuline because of the community, values and educational experience that have defined this institution for generations, while also recognizing the new opportunities available to them as part of Gannon University. Seeing our largest incoming class ever, full residence halls and continued growth in athletics is a powerful sign of the future we are building together.” 

The momentum extends beyond enrollment. Ursuline’s residence halls are filled to capacity for the fall, with 117 new incoming students expected to live on campus. The strong residential enrollment provides a tangible sign of renewed activity and energy across the Pepper Pike campus. 

Athletics also are expanding to create new opportunities for students and broaden recruitment. Ursuline launched men’s golf this year. The campus currently has 195 student-athletes participating across its athletic programs. 

The addition of men’s athletics is contributing to a more diverse incoming student population. Currently, 14 percent of incoming high school and transfer students are male, compared with 11 percent of the combined high school and transfer population last year. 

The growth reflects a broader evolution taking place on the Ursuline campus — one that expands opportunities for students while preserving the identity and traditions that make Ursuline distinctive. 

“The numbers are exciting, but what they represent is even more important,” said Iwanenko. “Students are choosing Ursuline at a time of significant change and opportunity for the campus. They are choosing a community with a strong history while also becoming part of a university with new opportunities for academics, athletics, campus life and beyond. That combination is creating real momentum, and we are excited to see where it takes Ursuline next.” 

As students return to Pepper Pike this fall, Ursuline begins this next chapter with its largest incoming class ever, residence halls at capacity, expanding athletic opportunities and a growing student population.
